Techne + Avra
Greek · Aramaic
“I create with craft.” The Greek techne — skill, art, the making of things by practiced hand — joined to avra. Craft as the whole point, not the finish.
About Tekavra
A design studio and technology company that builds things the right way — with intention, precision, and soul. Warm, precise, alive, ancient, and completely modern.
The Standard
Most of what a business runs on today is rented — a template it doesn’t own, a plugin held together with tape, a platform that decides its rules. Tekavra exists to do the opposite: to build the real software a business runs on, by hand, made to last.
That means the standard isn’t “good enough to ship.” It’s architecture over assembly, examination over output, the details no one else checks. The best sites are architected, not assembled — and the same is true of everything behind them.
A workshop that’s also a temple.
Warm and precise. Ancient in its care, completely modern in its craft. We treat the making itself as the point — not a means to a deadline.
The Name
The name is built the way we build software — from real roots, chosen on purpose. Two readings, one meaning.
Techne + Avra
Greek · Aramaic
“I create with craft.” The Greek techne — skill, art, the making of things by practiced hand — joined to avra. Craft as the whole point, not the finish.
Ka + Vara
Egyptian · Sanskrit
“Crafted with soul.” The Egyptian ka — the animating spirit — joined to the Sanskrit vara. Something real, made through practiced hands and deliberate intention.
The Founder
Tekavra is one founder’s standard, applied to every build. Vikelas Carey is a designer and business owner — someone who has run the operations he now builds software for, and who codes because that’s how the standard gets held.
No account managers, no offshore handoff, no template dressed up as custom. The person who designs your system is the person who builds it.
How We Work
Craft without direction is decoration. Every engagement starts by understanding the work before we build for it — then it’s built in the order that lasts.
Before a line of code, we map how the business really runs — the workflow, the friction, the shape only you have. We build for the work, not for a feature list.
The engine before the paint. We build the data model, the business logic, and the operations backend first — then the interface sits cleanly on top of something solid, instead of hiding something brittle.
Set up so you can take it with you anytime — no template you can’t leave, no black box. And we’re more than willing to manage your site and software in-house, if you’d rather we tend it. Made to last, either way.
A defined build with a fixed quote — you know the shape and the number before we begin.
Bigger systems delivered in deliberate phases — ship the foundation, then grow it as the business does.
Continuous design and development for teams that keep building — a steady hand on the system over time.
Cross the Threshold
Tell us what you’re running now and where it’s breaking. We’ll tell you, plainly, what we’d build — and how we’d build it the right way.
